- Every cent payed for income tax on Guam would be sent to Washington to fund the Federal government, thus doubling the income tax rate on Guam.
- Statehood would not be a good option because Guam would not be admitted in today's current political environment.
- Racism is an issue because currently only two states where white people are not the majority (California and Hawaii); White politicians dislike non-white / hispanic into U.S.
- Statehood doesn't change our U.S. citizenship status. (So there's no point)
- Becoming a state would end Guam's visa waiver.
- Guam senate would have to be completely changed because our current senate is illegal. Also it would be the same majority voting for the same 15 people. There would be multiple districting issues. Since Guam is mainly democratic it would also tip voting scales because democrats and republicans. The U.S. would never allow statehood. (Pointless again)
- Our form of Government is unconstitutional and would have to be completely revamped.
- The Chamorro land act would be considered questionable. It violates the equal protection.
- Under statehood congress could decide to vote for English being Guam's official language. (Bad because that would mean we would not be able to speak Chamorro in the court system)
- Statehood has very little to offer to why bother. (Duh)
- Guam would no longer be able to participate in neighboring Pacific island forums.
- The constitution would interfere with Guam's traditional practices. (Santa Maria Camilin's Day December 8th and All Souls Day)
- Would threaten our tourism industry because of the visa waiver.
- Would have no substantial financial support and would need a new form of taxation to support Gov. Guam.
